Mythology in Contemporary Culture

March 19 - 22, 2008

The “Mythology in Contemporary Culture” area is dedicated to exploring
mythological figures and motifs (from all cultures and historical
periods) in all areas of popular cultureâ€"from movies, video games and
television to novels, politics and blogsâ€"and the significance of these
mythological figures and motifs in contemporary, postmodern culture.

Topics of particular interest include, but are not limited to:

• Women heroines in mythology in relation to the current-day
depiction of female athletes and women in sports
• The ocean
• China and/or the 2008 Olympics

All abstracts pertaining to the general theme of mythology in
contemporary culture are welcome.

DEADLINE FOR SUBMISSION: NOVEMBER 9, 2007.

Please submit a 250-word abstract no later than November 9, 2007 to:
