Call for Papers for a NYCEA sponsored CEA Special Topics Panel on "Anatomy
of Violence in Literature" at the 39th College English Association (CEA)
Conference St. Louis—27-29 March 2008
We welcome submissions of both past NYCEA papers previously presented at
the NYCEA Conference on this theme, OR new submissions on the topic of this
special session: "Anatomy of Violence in Literature."
We also welcome full panel proposals fitting the above panel topic.
It is our desire to be able to field at the CEA conference a number of
panels on this theme with the intent of creating a subset of scholarly
communities, originally arising out of the NYCEA affiliate, within the
larger CEA conference community.
At its conference, CEA, vibrant organization, has always celebrated
scholarly activity in many forms: traditional literary criticism, writing
theory, writing and literary pedagogies, and extrinsic studies as they
relate to the conference themes or its special topics.
CEA prefers to receive all submissions (including those for this special
topic call on "Anatomy of Violence in Literature") electronically through
our conference management database housed at the following web address:
Electronic submissions open on September 5th and close on November 1st.
Abstracts for proposals should be between 200 and 500 words in length and
should include a title.
Submitting electronically is a two-step process: 1) setting up a user ID,
then 2) using that ID to log in—this time to a welcome page which provides
a link for submitting proposals to the conference. ELECTRONIC SUBMISSIONS
DEADLINE: NOVEMBER 1, 2007.
Emailed submissions will not be accepted; electronic submissions must come
through our submission site listed above following the easy two step process.
If submitting a panel, panel organizers should create user IDs for all
