CFP: Detective Fiction (6/15/08: MAPACA 10/31/08-11/01/08)
The Detective Fiction Area of the Mid-Atlantic Popular Culture
Association seeks proposals for the annual MAPACA conference, which will
be held this year in Niagara Falls, Ontario (10/31/08-11/01/08).
Proposals on all aspects and periods of mystery and detective fiction are
welcome. This includes ancient and modern precursors to Poe's "The
Murders in the Rue Morgue" (1841), as well as successors working in the
multitude of sub-genres falling under the larger designations of
detective, mystery, or crime fiction. Proposals that address the
intersection of detective fiction with other media (e.g., graphic novels,
film, television, etc.) and genres (e.g., sci-fi, horror, domestic
fiction, etc.) are especially welcome.
Please send an abstract of 200-300 words and a brief bio to Alexander
Howe at ahowe_at_udc.edu.
The deadline for submissions is June 15, 2008.
