2009 Southwest/Texas Popular Culture/American Culture Association

The 30th Annual Meeting of the SW/TX PCA/ACA

The 2009 SW/TX PCA/ACA Conference will be held in Albuquerque, New Mexico
at the Hyatt Regency downtown. Further details regarding the conference

Proposals are now being accepted for the Linguistics Area, which will
focus on language in society. Listed below are some suggestions for
possible presentations, but topics not included here are also welcome.

Language and Gender
Language in Advertising
Language and Law
Code-switching
Language use along the border
Dialects
Conversation analysis
Discourse analysis
Language and education
Inquiries regarding this area and/or abstracts of 250 words may be sent

priority deadline, November 15, 2008. Final deadline is December 1, 2008.
