CFP: [General] Globalisation and the Gothic
CFP: Globalisation and the Gothic
University of Stirling, Scotland
28-29 July 2009
The AHRC Global Gothic Network, in association with the University of
Stirling, Scotland, invites proposals for a multidisciplinary conference on
the topic of ‘Globalisation and the Gothic’. Our main concerns are with the
various ways gothic productions from around the world have engaged with the
politics of globalisation, the production of gothic in a global
marketplace, and the ways in which globalisation has led to the production
of new forms of Gothic and to a plethora of appropriations and adaptations.
We are interested in proposals which consider globalisation and gothic
representations in terms of film, literature, music, dance, performance,
painting, photography, fashion, digitalisation, etc.
Delivery time for presentation is 20 minutes. In addition to conventional
panels, we are interested in setting up some panels where the papers are
pre-circulated, introduced rather than read in their complete form, and
followed by a respondent who would then lead a more general question and
answer session. Suggestions for panels are welcomed.
Places at the conference are limited.
Some support will be available for postgraduates giving papers. Further
details to be announced later.
Deadline for the receipt of 200 word abstracts is 10 January 2009.
