Master’s and Doctor’s Programs in Teaching Chinese as a Second Language,
National Chengchi University
Conference Venue: National Taipei University of Technology
Conference Themes:
1. Applied Linguistics: pragmatics, phraseology, discourse analysis, text
linguistics, psycholinguistics, corpus linguistics, language and culture,
language and technology, language assessment, corpus linguistics, and other
relevant topics
2. Sociolinguistics: multilingual and multicultural development,
cross-linguistic and
cross-cultural communication, language policy and language planning,
language contact
and language change, linguistic context and linguistic variation, language
development in
the digital era, language diversity
 Panels: L2 sociolinguistics, gender studies, language and the human
rights, functional
linguistics, urban linguistics
3. Foreign Language Teaching Theory and Practice: L2 acquisition/SLA,
content-based instruction, multi-/cross-cultural issues in English
education, technology and English education, and other relevant topics
4. ESP Research and Teaching: technical writing, corpus resources, English
for vocational
education/business/tourism/science/medicine/technology/management,
innovations in ESP curriculum design, international/inter-cultural
communication, trends and challenges in English for specific purposes
5. Translation Studies: translation theory and practice, translation
teaching and programming
 Panels: translation studies programming, polysystem studies, Benjamin in
Chinese and/or
         otherwise, auto-lingual translation studies
6. Themes otherwise proposed are welcome. Please send proposals to the Host.

Form on WORD to 2009ntut_at_ntut.edu.tw by March 1, 2009. Please indicate
“2009 NTUT Conference Abstract” as “Subject” in your email. Submissions
can be either in English or Chinese.
2. Acceptance Notification: March 15, 2009
3. Full Paper Due: Please send your full paper prepared in the APA or
Language style on
                 WORD to 2009ntut_at_ntut.edu.tw by September 30, 2009, and
please indicate “2009 NTUT Conference Full Paper” as “Subject” in your email.
4. Post-Conference Publication: Refereed theme papers will be prepared
into publication/s.
