Exit 9: Call for Papers AND Artwork

"Reading Scars"

Exit 9 currently is accepting manuscripts and artwork for its next
issue, slated for publication in Summer 2004. The upcoming issue will
focus on themes concerning psychoanalysis and violence across
cultures/traditions, historic periods/eras, racial/ethnic lines, and
gender/sexual orientations. Topics may focus on, but are not limited
to, the following:

nationalism and war
gender violence
language and violence
postcolonial and diasporic identities
the suffering body
ideological violence
religious fundamentalism and violence
madness/psychosis and civilization
psychoanalysis and globalization
substance abuse

The deadline for submissions is February 14, 2004.

Submissions should follow MLA format (endnotes and complete
bibliography) and should include two hard copies, an electronic copy (on
disk), and a short biography (50 words). An original hard copy of art
work should be mailed to the address below and emailed in PDF format.

Exit 9 is an academic journal published by graduate students from the
Graduate Program in Comparative Literature of Rutgers University, The
State University of New Jersey. From its inception in Autumn of 1993,
Exit 9 has fostered discussions concerning the following issues and
representations: literary, multicultural, multilingual, political,
gender, racial, mythical, psychoanalytical, historical, and religious.
