Call for Papers: Emergent Nature/Cultures
Papers are sought for a workshop entitled "Emergent Nature/Cultures,"
hosted by the Department of Anthropology at the University of Minnesota.
Papers should address the nature/culture thematic, but contributors may
interpret this as they see fit.
The purpose of the workshop is to prepare manuscripts for inclusion in a
new journal, tentatively entitled "After Culture: Emergent
Anthropologies," intended as an international graduate student journal
(although it will publish faculty contributions as well). The workshop
will only accept 16 papers for inclusion, 10 of these being earmarked
for publication in the first two issues of "After Culture." Full drafts
of the manuscript (20-30 pages) must be made available by September 8th
for other workshop participants; contributors are expected to
participate in all of the workshop's sessions.
Following the workshop, participants will have until March 2006 to
revise their manuscripts, at which point they will pass through the
traditional peer review process for inclusion in "After Culture." The
first issue of "After Culture" is planned for release in September 2006.
Funds are being sought from the University of Minnesota to support
travel and lodging for participants. The dates for the workshop are
tentatively planned for September 24-25th, although the schedules of
participants will be taken into consideration.
Abstracts of 300-350 words with a tentative title should be sent to
wolf0358_at_umn.edu by July 22nd. Decisions regarding the inclusion of
papers in the workshop will be made by July 29th.
Send all inquiries to Matthew Wolf-Meyer at wolf0358_at_umn.edu.
