CALL FOR PAPERS

The 17th annual Midwestern Conference on Literature, Language, and Media
(MCLLM) will be held March 20 and 21, 2009, at Northern Illinois
University in DeKalb, Illinois.

Confirmed keynote speakers:
Dr. Salikoko Mufwene, University of Chicago - “The Origins of American
Englishes”
Dr. Robert Dale Parker, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign -
 â€œIdentity after Identity: Historicizing Identity in Contemporary
Criticism”
Dr. Tim A. Ryan, Northern Illinois University - "Cultural Constructions
of American Slave Psychology"

Proposals are being solicited for fifteen minute papers from scholars at
all career stages, from beginning graduate students to established and
senior scholars.

MCLLM invites papers on all areas of literary, language, and media
studies, especially proposals that interrogate identity and its
representation through the prism of literature, language, or media in all
their diverse contexts.

Individual or panel (three to four people) proposals are welcome.

Deadline for submissions: January 2, 2009. Please include a cover page
with your name, affiliation, mailing address, and email address.

Accepted contributors will be notified via email by January 19, 2009.

Please submit your 250-word (one page) abstracts as an attachment to:
