Deadline extended: January 20, 2009

I invite pedagogical papers on any 19th century American literature to
constitute an independent panel proposal for the American Literature
Association conference in Boston, MA, May 21-24, 2009. I would like to
put to gether a roundtable discussion of approaches to teaching 19th
century American literature: innovative approaches to teaching individual
texts in a traditional classroom; non-traditional teaching settings, such
as web-based teaching; teaching texts in a global context; assignments
other than traditional papers, etc. Because I hope to put together a
roundtable of 5-6 panelists, proposals should be geared for 10 minutes
rather than the customary 15-20 minutes.
Please send a 1-2 page abstract no later than January 20, 2009, to Martha
Sledge (msledge_at_mmm.edu).
