The Southeastern Bridges in English Studies Conference
Valdosta State University – Valdosta, GA
25 April 2009
The Valdosta State University English Graduate Student Association (EGSA)
wants to hear about your research interests. We invite you to share a bit
of your current research with us at the First Annual Southeastern Bridges
in English Studies Conference (SBES) in Valdosta, Georgia.
The SBES seeks original papers concerning any aspect of English studies:
literature, rhetoric and composition, linguistics, or cultural studies.
Submissions are welcome on any topic, from critical readings of classical
literature to studies on freshman composition. We want to hear about what
you are interested in. Just bring what you are working on now.
This conference is designed to provide a friendly environment in which
students can share their current research with fellow graduate students
from different universities. Ultimately, we hope that the conference will
help to create a wider academic community in our region.
Submit abstracts/proposals electronically to
Conference Coordinator, Shane Wilson, by February 28, 2009.
We believe that there is something to be said about the positive effects of
bridge-building. Therefore, we offer this conference in hopes that we can
build bridges among the divisions in English studies, our respective
universities, and between each other as scholars of English.
