The word =91theatre=92 refers to something that is both a material = that takes place in it, and we are particularly interested in exploring=20= the relationship between these two aspects in antiquity, over time, and=20= in the contemporary world. Our conference title, The =91Spaces=92 of Greek and Roman Theatre, = * archaeology (physical and virtual reconstructions of theatre=20 space in relation to the physical, cultural, social and political) Papers of 20 or 40 minutes duration are sought on the following topics: The physical spaces of Greek and Roman theatre * Current reconstruction work, both physical and virtual, of=20 for research and teaching purposes. Ancient performance practice * How did the physical spaces of Greek and Roman theatre influence=20= or define actual performance practice in Athens, Rome and other=20 Reception Studies * What have later cultures (particularly since the Renaissance)=20 the plays? Reception in Australia and New Zealand * What are the trends and what is distinctive about the reception=20= of Greek and Roman theatre in this part of the world? To date there has not been a sustained examination of the reception of=20= Greek and Roman theatre in Australia and New Zealand.
