The keynote speaker will be Dr Roger Luckhurst of Birkbeck, University of London. Dr Luckhurst has written classics in both gothic literary studies and science fiction studies; for example, he is the author of _The Angle Between Two Walls: Fiction of J.G. Ballard_, and is co-editor (with Sally Ledger) of _The Fin de Siècle: A Reader in Cultural History c.1880-1900_. After the conference we hope to interest an academic science fiction journal or a publisher in a selected collection of the papers. Proposals are welcomed on, but not limited to, the following topics and areas: - gothic tropes in science fiction, both past and contemporary, and across a variety of media - written texts/film/graphic novels/visual media We welcome individual submissions.
