CFP: Modern Environments (grad) (UK) (6/1/07; ASLE-UK, 9/7/07-9/8/07)full name / name of organization: John Miller contact email: J.Miller@englit.arts.gla.ac.uk CALL FOR PROPOSALS 7-8 September 2007 The Association for the Study of Literature and Environment (ASLE-UK) invites proposals for its First Biennial Graduate Conference, to be held 7-8 September 2007 at the University of Glasgow. Taking as our theme ‘Modern Environments: Contemporary Readings in Green Studies,’ we seek proposals for papers (20-minute presentation time), panels and roundtables that explore cultural responses to today’s environment. We welcome interdisciplinary approaches and readings of environmentally concerned creative fiction, poetry and non-fiction along with papers that engage with the environment from other disciplines within the arts and humanities. Proposals might focus on but are not limited to the following topics: · Literature of Urban/Suburban Environments Please send proposals of 200 words for papers, panels or roundtables by 1 June 2007 to: Please include a title, your institutional affiliation, and contact information. Pre-formed panels and roundtables are acceptable and encouraged. Preference will be given to graduate speakers, but proposals from established academics are also welcome. Audio-visual requests must accompany the proposal. All presenters must be ASLE members by the start of the conference.
