Call For Papers

Deadline – Friday 16th November 2007

The 7th annual Crosscurrents conference will be held at the University of
Strathclyde on 18-20th April 2008 (funded by the AHRC Centre for Irish
and Scottish Studies). The conference provides a forum for postgraduates
and research fellows who are working in the field of Scottish and/or
Irish Studies. The conference welcomes interdisciplinary research in
literature, cultural studies, history, Celtic studies, film studies,
politics, geography, and sociology. We are interested in receiving
proposals for 20 min papers and topics may include, but are not limited
to:

• Scotland and Ireland in theory (particularly postal theory –
postmodernism, postnationalism, postcolonialism, postfeminism)
• Devolution in Scottish and Irish Studies
• Diaspora in Scotland and Ireland
• Identity, gender, and sexuality
• Language and marginalisation
• Visual representations of Scotland and Ireland
• Place and space
