“James Joyce and World Literature”

Thursday 8th November – Saturday 10th November 2007

The international conference on “James Joyce and World Literature”, organized by the Institute of
World Literature, Peking University and supported by the Embassy of Ireland in Beijing, aims to
invite scholars and writers from all over the world to investigate some of the key issues on James
Joyce and world literature. It is part of the “James Joyce Year in China”, which includes “James
Joyce Essay Competition”, “Bloomsday Symposium --- Ellmann’s Joyce”, “James Joyce Exhibition”
and “Performance of Joyce’s Exiles”. The conference topics include, but are not limited to:

1. James Joyce and Classical Literature
2. James Joyce and Modern Literature
3. James Joyce and Contemporary Literature
4. Auto/Biographical Studies of James Joyce
5. Exile & Diaspora Studies

The conference fee will be 200 euros and it will cover all the meals, coffees and teas during the
conference period. Special panels and round tables are greatly encouraged. Please send a
300-500 word abstract and CV before 20 October 2007 to:
