The Malaysian English Language Teaching Association (MELTA) will host its
17th International Conference on the theme English Language and Multiple
Literacies at THREE different locations: The Gurney, Georgetown, Penang
from the 26th to 27th May 2008, Palace of the Golden Horses, MINES,
Selangor from the 30th to 31st May 2008 and Le Meridien, Kota Kinabalu,
Sabah from the 5th to 6th June 2008. Presentations may be in the form
of paper presentations (30 mins), workshops (60 mins), demonstrations (30
mins) and multimedia presentations (30 mins). Presentations may focus on
the following sub-themes in English Language education and the
development of multiple literacies:

• Reading
• Writing
• Oracy
• Literacy in Mathematics
• Literacy in Science
• Multimedia Literacy
• English for Specific Purposes
• Creative Literacy
• Critical Literacy
• Emotional Literacy
• Workplace Literacy
• Content/Skills-based Methodologies
• Formal and Context(School)-based Assessment of Multiple
Literacies
• Soft Skills Development

All presentations should be made in English. Deadline for submission of
abstracts is 15 February 2008.

Presenters whose proposals have been accepted must register for the
conference and pay the registration fee by 1st April 2008 or the
acceptance will be withdrawn. Presenters wishing to participate in more
than one location only need to pay the Full Package fee for the first
venue and the discounted rate for each subsequent venue.
