Languages and Cultures and the School of English, we are delighted to
announce the launch of ‘Literature without Borders’, a series of monthly
interdisciplinary literature seminars at the University of Leeds. We are
anticipating a series of engaging papers and some lively discussion. Here
are the seminar dates for 2008-2009:

Utrecht), title tbc
12 November – Dr Paul Taylor (Institute of Communications Studies,
University of Leeds) – ‘Mitsein to Bitsein: Digital Dystopias and

The events will take place in Seminar Room 3 at the Leeds Humanities
Research Institute from 4.30 to 6pm. Light refreshments will be provided.
We are launching the series with a lecture by Professor. Paulo de
Medeiros, a specialist in comparative literature. Prof. de Medeiros’ talk
will be aimed at a general audience and is intended to raise questions
surrounding the study of literature.
We are now looking for other people to present papers. Many have
expressed an interest in giving a talk – please let us know if any of the
above dates would suit you. Also, if anyone has a paper that would fit
nicely with Dr. Paul Taylor’s talk on 12th Nov then please let us know.
Those who are interested should send preferred dates, titles and
abstracts/general themes to Rhian Atkin at r.e.atkin_at_leeds.ac.uk.
Rhian Atkin, Alberto Fernández Carbajal and Owen Clayton.
