Call for Papers--UPDATE
Papers and/or complete panels on all aspects of Bernard Malamud’s writing
and related topics are welcome at the American Literature Association 19th
Annual Conference, May 22-25, 2008, in San Francisco.
Possible paper/panel themes include:
The Role of Biography
New Critical Approaches to Malamud
Findings from the Archives (Library of Congress, Ransom Center, Oregon State)
Malamud and the Holocaust
Philosophical Approaches to Malamud
Enduring Malamud
New Directions in Malamud
Nature in Malamud
Malamud's Chesed
Literary Responsa
What it Means Human
What are We Missing?
Bridges between Worlds
The above are some suggested lines of inquiry, but topics not included here
are also welcome. Individual papers (15-20 minute reading time) are
welcome, as are complete panels.

Audio-visual equipment: The ALA will normally provide the following: slide
projectors and screens, vcr-dvd equipment, cd or cassette tape players, and
projectors for PowerPoint presentations.
Conference Information: The American Literature Association’s 19th annual
conference will meet at the Hyatt Regency in San Francisco on May 22-25,
2008 (Thursday through Sunday of Memorial Day weekend). For further

Conference Fee: For those who pre-register before April 15, 2007: $85
($35 for Graduate Students, Independent Scholars, and Retired Faculty).
After April 15, the fees are $100 and $50.
