CFP: Call for Papers and Creative Works by Frontiers: A Journal
of Women Studies on gender, place and politics (deadline for materials
to be submitted is June 1, 2003)

Frontiers: A Journal of Women Studies has been pushing the boundaries
of feminist scholarship since 1975. An interdisciplinary and
multidisciplinary journal, it has been particularly concerned with the
multicultural experience of women in the American West.

Now Frontiers is moving to Arizona State University where it will
acquire new editors, Susan Gray and Gayle Gullett. In Arizona Frontiers
will continue exploring topics in women's studies and will examine new
kinds of border crossings. The new Frontiers will both embrace the West
and move beyond national boundaries; it will look at the relationships
among place, region, and topics of longstanding concern to feminist
scholars-gender, race, ethnicity, class, and sexual orientation.

For a special issue to inaugurate Frontier's new
geographical and intellectual location, the editors call for scholarly
and creative works on gender, place, and politics. We envision papers
that range from the impact of place upon the gender dynamics of local
politics to those that ask questions about how the growth of global
politics has affected gender.

All materials must be submitted by June 1, 2003.
Submissions and correspondence should be sent to the following: Editors,
Frontiers: A Journal of Women Studies, Department of History, Arizona
State University, PO Box 872501, Tempe, Arizona 85287-2501. Telephone
(480) 965-4787; Fax (480) 965-0310; e-mail Gayle.Gullett_at_asu.edu.

All textual submissions must be word-processed,
double-spaced, unstapled, and accompanied by a title page with the
author's name. No other page in the manuscript should identify the
author. Three copies of the manuscript and an electronic version should
be sent to the Editors at the above address. The electronic version
should be in a Word or WordPerfect format and may be submitted as an
email attachment or on a disk. If you want your submission returned,
please provide a self-addressed, stamped envelope with correct postage.
Scholarly articles must follow The Chicago Manual of Style (University
of Chicago Press), 14th edition. Manuscripts, including footnotes, must
not exceed 14,000 words. Permissions are the responsibility of the
author.

If you are sending an artistic contribution, one set of
visual materials is sufficient and slides are preferred. Art should be
identified only by title, medium, and number. A list of all work sent,
which includes the artist's name and address, should accompany the
submission. Artists are responsible for insuring work and only copies
of originals (35mm slides or black and white photos) should be submitted
for editorial review.

Please provide your full address, including e-mail, in all
correspondence.
