CFP: Modern Fiction, Medieval Themes: Teaching the Middle Ages Using Modern
Fiction (conference panel)

             Proposals are being sought for papers on the experience or
theory of using modern fiction, for example, Tolkien's The Lord of the
Rings or Umberto Eco's The Name of the Rose, to teach students about the
Middle Ages. Papers may be from any disciplinary perspective and may
consider college or high school students.
             The venue is the International Congress on Medieval Studies
held at Kalamazoo, Michigan (the campus of Western Michigan University),
May 4-7, 2006. The conference web site may be found at:
