Call for Papers for Conference for Medieval Studies (Grad)

We are pleased to announce a call for papers for the fourth annual
Conference for Medieval Studies, a graduate conference sponsored by
Comitatus, the Purdue Medieval interest group, to be held at Purdue
University, West Lafayette, Indiana from February 17-18, 2006. The theme for
this year's conference is "(Re)Imagining Arthur: Cultural and Theoretical
Contexts of the Arthurian Legends."

Bonnie Wheeler, Professor of English and Medieval Studies at Southern
Methodist University and Editor of Arthuriana, will be the plenary speaker
for this year's conference.

Both individual papers and panel proposals dealing with all aspects of the
Arthurian legend will be considered. For panel proposals, send individual
abstracts for each paper and an abstract for the panel as a whole. All
abstracts should be 500 words or less. Individual papers should be 15-20
minutes in length to allow time for discussion. Possible topics might
include, but are not limited to the following:

Gender Religion Historicity

Identity Mysticism Chivalry

Monstrosity Witchcraft Courtly Love

Transvestism The Body Modern
Reinventions of Arthur

Alterity Liminality
Postcolonialism
