This message is an updated CFP for the Fifth Fifteenth-Century =20
Conference (sponsored by the Richard III Society and the Program in =20
Medieval Studies and the English Department of the University of =20
Illinois at Urbana-Champaign).

This triennial conference will be held from 5/6/07-5/9/07, the days =20
leading up to the Forty-Second International Medieval Congress at =20
Western Michigan University (5/10/07-5/13/07).

The site for the conference will once again be held at scenic =20
Allerton Park and Retreat Center in Monticello, Illinois. Prof. =20
Barrie Dobson, Cambridge University (retired), is our plenary =20
speaker; his paper is tentatively titled "The Rise of the Professions =20=

in Fifteenth-Century England." Prof. Pamela King, University of =20
Bristol, is our keynote speaker; her paper is tentatively titled =20
"Confraternities, Civic Shows, and the Rhetoric of Fifteenth-Century =20
English Urban Culture."

The deadline for paper proposals is Friday, 3 November 2006. Papers =20
should be approximately 45 minutes long and can deal with any aspect =20
of fifteenth-century English history or culture. (The conference =20
definition of "fifteenth-century England" is rather broad, covering =20
England and its realm=97both insular and continental=97from c. 1350 to =
c. =20
1550.)
