CFP: WFU Medieval Studies/Renaissance Studies Conference (3/21/07; 4/21/07)
Medieval and Renaissance Studies Conference: Call for Papers
The third annual Medieval and Renaissance Studies Conference, an
undergraduate and graduate student conference sponsored jointly by the
Wake Forest Medieval Studies Student Society and the Renaissance
Readers: the Renegados (an undergraduate and graduate Early Modern
Reading Group at Wake Forest), will be held at Wake Forest University,
Winston-Salem, North Carolina on April 21, 2007.
The Medieval and Renaissance Studies Conference is an annual student-run
conference for undergraduate and graduate students studying any aspect
of the Middle Ages or the Renaissance. Its goal is to foster a sense of
community amongst undergraduate and graduate students as well as between
students of these two overlapping periods which are too often
pigeon-holed into separate scholarly fields.
Rather than relegating Medieval and Renaissance to separate panels, we
will seek to integrate papers on both periods into two to three sessions
organized around intersecting subjects. One session will be reserved
for the plenary speaker, who will be a Wake Forest alumna or alumnus.
We invite paper abstracts (300 words) on any aspect of Medieval or
Renaissance studies from advanced undergraduates and graduate students
to be submitted by March 21, 2007. Priority will be given to papers
which demonstrate original and thought-provoking research and which are
of significance to a wider Medieval/Renaissance audience.
