CALL FOR PAPERS

Lollard Affiliations: Historical, Literary, Theological
Oriel College, Oxford, 11-13 July 2008

Plenary speakers: Anne Hudson, Alastair Minnis, Peter Marshall

The Lollard Society invites proposals for papers to be held at its next
international conference, "Lollard Affiliations," to be held at Oriel
College, Oxford, in July 2008. The conference will bring together
historians, theologians, literary scholars, and other students of
dissenting religion in late medieval and early modern England. The aim is
to explore, in as interdisciplinary a manner as possible, the numerous
contexts that shaped not only Lollardy itself but also the subsequent
historiography of Lollardy. Sessions will address the relationships
between dissenting and mainstream practice, belief, and writing;
methodology in Lollard studies; vernacular theology; and Lollardy and the
Reformation, among other topics.

We welcome proposals for 20- to 30-minute papers from all scholars with
interests in Lollardy and/or its historical, literary, and theological
contexts. Please send a 250-word abstract, along with your contact details
(name, affiliation, address, and e-mail address), to Mishtooni Bose at
mishtooni.bose_at_chch.ox.ac.uk. The deadline for submissions is 1 September
2007.

Registration for the conference is now open: please email
hornbeck_at_fordham.edu for a registration form.
