Call for Papers for the 43rd Int'l Congress on Medieval Studies,
Kalamazoo, MI, May 8-11, 2008:

“Teaching the Mystics” (Sponsored by Medieval Association of the Midwest)

This panel aims to bring teachers of mystical and devotional literature
together to share pedagogical approaches to this diverse body of
literature. We welcome submissions from teachers at all levels (high-school
through graduate), as well as those who may be working with mystics in
different languages (not only Richard Rolle and Julian of Norwich, but also
Hildegard of Bingen, St. Bridget of Sweden, etc, etc.). Papers may address
ways to get students interested in a mystical rhetoric that may be foreign
to everyday experience or offer up in-class assignments that have led to
exciting student projects.

Please email inquiries and abstracts of up to 300 words to Christopher
Roman at croman2_at_kent.edu by 9/15/2005. For mail or phone use
