The Medieval Research Consortium at UC Davis invites submissions to the
following sessions at the 43rd International Congress on Medieval Studies:

1. “Visionary Literature and the Visionary Tradition.” This session
investigates the tradition and corpus of visionary texts. Papers might
examine apocalyptic visions, accounts of mystical and spiritual
experience, and engage with the structure and epistemology of the
visionary text itself.

2. “Circulation and Legitimacy: The Real and the Counterfeit.” This
session will interrogate how texts circulate ambiguous characters, ideas,
and information. Papers might explore what textual markers inform our
expectation of the “real” and the “counterfeit”—or any area in between—and
when and how the reader is expected to navigate between the “legitimate”
and the “illegitimate.”

Work from all medieval periods and geographies are welcome. Send one-page
abstract with contact information to Barbara Zimbalist at
bezimbalist_at_ucdavis.edu by September 15th, 2007.
