21st Annual Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings Conference

Sponsored by the Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings Society, the University of
Central Florida, and Western Carolina University

The Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings Society, an organization of over 250 members
worldwide, invites paper proposals on topics related both directly and
indirectly to Rawlings’s life and works. Paper topics might include but
are not limited to the following categories:

• Rawlings and other authors, such as Thomas Wolfe, F. Scott Fitzgerald,
Ernest Hemingway, Zora Neale Hurston, Ellen Glasgow, Wallace Stevens,
Robert Frost.
• The production and the consumption of food
• Rawlings and film
• Rawlings’s Cross Creek trial and the rights of authors
• Rawlings’s Cracker characters and cultural identity
• Rawlings’s Florida friends, such as Idella Parker and Dessie Smith Prescott
• Rawlings and Maxwell Perkins and/or the Scribners
• Rawlings and Modernism
• Rawlings and the production and the consumption of food
• Rawlings and gender
• Rawlings and politics
• Rawlings and Feminism
• Rawlings and race
• Rawlings and Florida
• Rawlings and Southern literature
