CFP: [Medieval] A Useful Past

The 5th College of Arts and Sciences Conference on Classical, Medieval,
and Renaissance Studies will take place Saturday, March 28th at The
University of Texas at Tyler. The conference, entitled "A Useful Past:
History, Politics, and Literature from Classical Antiquity to the Present
Day, is intended to bring together students, faculty, and the local
community to discuss a range of issues concerning how history affects
diverse aspects of culture, the arts, and our conception of our place in
the world. Abstracts from undergraduate, graduate students, faculty, and
interested members of the community are encouraged on all topics
concerning classical antiquity through the modern period (including
topics on Americana). Proposals for all disciplines associated with the
arts, humanities, and social sciences are encouraged. Abstracts of 100-
200 words for a 15-20 minute paper should be e-mailed (strongly
preferred) to Victor Scherb at vscherb_at_mail.uttyl.edu or Edward Tabri at
etabri_at_mail.uttyl.edu.In addition to the abstract, please include a brief
personal statement or Curriculum Vitae of less than one page, with full
contact information and a tentative assessment of any audiovisual
equipment required for your presentation. The deadline for abstract
submission is Friday, February 6th, 2009.
