Now Accepting submissions for a Special Session on ?William Blake and
Authority? for the Modern Language Association?s (MLA) convention in
Chicago, December 2007.

Seeking submissions for a proposed panel on the topic of William Blake
and how he and his work engages with and/or confronts authority.
?Authority? can be interpreted in a variety of ways:

-Blake?s authority as an author/artist or his place in the canon
-Blake?s confrontation with institutional authority (i.e. Church and State)
-Blake?s resistance to the authority of Enlightenment principles and
the hegemony of reason
-Depictions of authority in Blake?s texts
-The authority of the word vs. the authority of the image
-Examinations of the ways that Blake conceptualizes authority
-Blake?s reaction to?and criticism of?colonial authority

These are just a few ideas on how this topic may be approached, but
the possibilities are, well, infinite! I am especially interested in
creative and new approaches to Blake and his work.
