18th Annual EGSA Mardi Gras Conference
Louisiana State University
January 30- February 1
Keynote Speaker: Cathy Davidson

“Twenty First Century Poetics”
The 18th annual Mardi Gras Conference invites papers for the proposed
panel, “Twenty First Century Poetics.” We are seeking 15 minute papers
that consider the current state of poetics, whether avant-garde,
traditional, or formalist, and the influence these poetics continue to
exert on poetry and its readers. The twentieth century was a century of
isms, manifestos, and declarations – at the beginning of the twenty first
century do these models continue to define poetics? Papers are encouraged
that consider the poetic works and the ides of their authors, as well as
the continued pressure that poetry exerts on society and the reader.
