CFP: Australian Literature (12/31/06; 3/22/07-3/24/07)full name / name of organization: John Scheckter contact email: John.Scheckter@liu.edu American Association of Australian Literary Studies The American Association of Australian Literary Studies holds an annual conference where members present their academic work in Australian literary and cultural studies. The meeting affords an opportunity for intellectual and social interaction with fellow scholars from around the world. The Wertheim Prize is awarded each year for the best paper by a Graduate Student. In addition to the presentation of academic work, the conference features readings by Australian writers and a conference dinner with a keynote speaker. Recent conference locations include Montreal, Boston, New York, Richmond and Kansas City, with readings by Peter Carey, Janette Turner Hospital, Kevin Hart, Jonathan Bennett, Andrew Sant, Lesley Stern and John Kinsella. The 2007 AAALS Conference will be held at Georgetown University in Washington, DC from March 22-24. Conference Theme: Literature and Politics Presentations should be 20 minutes long.
