Issue 4.1 of Segue, the online literary journal of Miami
University-Middletown, is available for viewing, and the editors are
accepting creative and scholarly work for its fall issue.

Segue's mission is to celebrate and illuminate the whole writing process,
rather than focusing solely on the writing product. Our Featured Authors
publish short collections of new work along with writing that explores the
process behind their submissions, and our new Writing on Writing page
provides a site of exchange for students, teachers, readers and writers to
explore writing-related issues. Past Featured Authors include Brian
Kiteley, Denise Duhamel, Katharine Haake, and Diane Glancy. Issue 4.1
features a retrospective of the poetry of Ruth Daigon (and a few brand new
poems), along with her new essay, "From Singer to Poet." In addition to
online viewing, issue 4.1 is now available as a PDF download and on new,
ultra-hip Flashpaper. Segue also serves as an educational tool for writers,
teachers, and students. We encourage educators to use our publication in
the classroom, and to contact us with their success stories and ideas for
collaboration at segue_at_muohio.edu.

The editors are currently seeking electronic submissions of high quality
fiction, poetry, and creative nonfiction for issue 4.2, and nonfiction on
creative writing for its Writing on Writing page. We are especially in need
of the latter. Possible Writing on Writing topics include, but are not
limited to:

> Creative writing pedagogy (we're especially interested in this)
> The state of creative writing in academia
> Creative writing in academia v. the alleged "real world"
> The craft/process of writing fiction, poetry, or creative nonfiction
> Creative writing exercises (with explanations of their origin, purpose,
and if possible, examples of completed exercises)
> Close readings of the literary works of established authors, with an
eye toward illuminating something interesting/valuable in the work for
other writers
> Interviews with established authors
> The business side of creative writing
> The writing life

See our web site for full submission guidelines, past issues, and other
intrigues: <http://www.mid.muohio.edu/segue/>
