RICTE Fall Conference 2006 Keynote Speaker, Donna F. Ferber Lunch Time Performance, Johnson & Wales Community Theatre
It is with great pleasure that we announce Donna F. Ferber as keynote speaker as well as a lunch performance by the Johnson & Wales Community Theatre at the annual Rhode Island Council of Teachers of English Fall Conference. The conference will be held on Saturday, October 14, 2006 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. at New England Institute of Technology, Warwick, RI.
A year ago, as Donna F. Ferber finished writing a self-help book on divorce--From Ex-wife to Exceptional Life: A Woman's Journey through Divorce-- she found herself on her own journey through the literary and publishing worlds. She will share her experiences as an award-winning book writer and publisher in her talk "From Brainstorm to Bookstore." Donna F. Ferber, a psychotherapist in private practice in Connecticut for 20 years, is a licensed professional counselor, a licensed alcohol and drug abuse counselor, and an educator. (www.donnaferber.com <http://www.donnaferber.com/> )
Johnson & Wales Community Theatre was founded five years ago with the belief that faculty, staff, and students should not be separate entities; rather, they all should share fun and rewarding experiences through theatre. The JWU theatre group has not only held on to that philosophy, but over the years the group has deepened its idea of community by specializing in staged readings of their own works.
This year's conference theme is "The Writer Awakens: Spontaneity, Creativity, and Self-Initiative" In our effort to support student literacy, RICTE is particularly interested in proposals presenting best practices in classroom literacy, including, but not limited to, the following:
* Reading and writing in ELA and across content areas
The RICTE conference committee requests that interested workshop presenters send a proposal that clearly describes the theme or topic to be presented. A form is provided on the reverse of this page for your convenience. E-mail submissions are acceptable.
