UPDATE: Teaching Literature through Travel/Study Abroad (2/15/07; RMMLA, 10/4/07-10/6/07)full name / name of organization: Barbara Vielma contact email: bvielma@utpa.edu CFP: Teaching Literature through Travel/Study Abroad (UPDATE: 2/15/07; RMMLA 10/4-6/07) Teaching Literature through Travel or Study Abroad Courses *2007 RMMLA Conference in beautiful Calgary, Alberta, Canada, October 4-6, 2007. I seek papers for an exciting special session panel addressing study abroad courses or courses with any kind of travel component, whether international or national. This panel intends to explore methodologies and pedagogical issues relevant to courses in which place occupies a particularly prominent position as students visit or inhabit spaces of literary significance. Both literature courses and interdisciplinary courses which include a literature emphasis are invited. Send a 200 word abstract (as an attachment in MSWord with "RMMLA 2007" in Subject line of email) to Barbara Vielma at bvielma_at_utpa.edu by February 15, 2007, for consideration. Be sure to include name, phone number, mailing address, and institutional affiliation. Acceptances will be sent out by March 5, 2007. Non-RMMLA members may propose a paper but membership in RMMLA is required of all presenters by April 1st 2007.
