CFP: [Professional] 2008 Mid-Atlantic College Literary Magazine Conference
The 2008 Mid-Atlantic College Student Literary Magazine Conference proudly announces this
exciting, new student-centered conference for college student magazine editors, student writers,
artists, and faculty advisors. Co-hosted by Community College of Philadelphia and Ocean County
College, this one-day conference will take place October 3, 2008, at Community College of
Philadelphia which is a short walk from the vibrant cultural arts, historical offerings, and eclectic
restaurants of downtown Philadelphia.
The conference co-chairs invite proposal abstracts of 250-300 words from students and faculty
advisors (group proposals are limited to 3 people). We will give preference to proposals which
clearly exemplify a student-centered focus, student-faculty collaborations, and engaging
approaches to editing, publishing, financing, and promoting a student literary magazine, as well
as ways in which student magazines motivate student success, writing skills, and involvement in
the academic experience.
Proposed sessions and roundtable discussions include:
--innovative faculty-student collaborations (roundtable)
--art and graphic design
--financing the student literary magazine
--promoting and developing the magazine
--student literary magazines & outreach to the community (roundtable)
--alternative expressions (e.g., CDs, Podcasts, MySpace Music Pages/MP3 tracks, etc.)
In addition, we are seeking proposals from enthusiastic faculty who can provide workshops in
--developing and teaching a literary magazine production course
--copyright and legal issues
--graphic design and layout
