CFP: Proposed Panel on Graduate Student Labor
for Class Matters: The 2009 Working Class Studies Association Conference
        University of Pittsburgh, Pittsburgh, PA
        June 3-6, 2009

The graduate student union movement of recent decades has taught much of academe what it
should have already knownâ€"that graduate students are workers in the university. This proposed
panel hopes to begin from this premise to analyze graduate students’ labor conditions, the
visceral and psychological experience of work and life under those conditions, and how they
impact graduate students’ work (research, teaching, service, etc.). Proposals are welcome for
papers on any aspect of this topic.

If you are interested in participating, please send a 250-word abstract and short bio to by November 1, 2008.
