CFP: [Bibliography] Research Methods for Periodicals (01/15/08); ALA 5/22/08-5/25/08)
The Research Society for American Periodicals (RSAP) is organizing the following panel for the
American Literature Association conference to be held in San Francisco from May 22-25th in
RESEARCH METHODS IN AMERICAN PERIODICALS:
How do you do it?
Papers are sought for a panel on methods for conducting research with
American periodicals. Papers reflecting on the strategies of teaching such
research methods would also be welcome. How does one deal with
contemporary publications and burgeoning electronic databases, not to
mention the digital periodicals themselves? How do you handle the
particular challenges, frustrations, and rewards of research with
historical periodicals? Reflections upon the larger theoretical issues
posed by differing research methods are welcome as are tips and approaches
for the nitty-gritty aspects of periodical scholarship.
Please submit as an electronic attachment an abstract of fewer than 500
words as well a few sentences of context about yourself and your work to Susanna Ashton
(sashton at clemson.edu) by January 15th, 2008.
