REGISTRATION DEADLINE: December 31, 2005

The Shakespeare in Popular Culture area of the 2005 Albuquerque
Conference of the SWPCA/ACA invites proposals for
papers on Shakespeare in Popular Culture.

The panel will explore the boundaries between the canonical Shakespearean texts
and their more recent popular culture adaptations.

Topics may include, but are not limited to:

Film Adaptations
Popular Song
Art
Theatrical Productions
Advertising
Internet
Mass Media

. . .and anything else you choose to explore.

Presentations in the past have included topics such as the use of music in Baz
Luhrmann's Romeo and Juliet, the importance of Shakespeare to shows such as The
Simpsons, and the unexpected reference to Shakespeare in films like Never Been
Kissed. This panel is a great opportunity for exploring scholars to try
something unusual.
