CFP: [Renaissance] Panel on "Delectation" of Women's Bodies
Panel Proposal for GEMCS 2008, Philadelphia
"Appetite, Desire, and Gargantuan Pleasures"
Individual Abstract Deadline; June 30, 2008
Panel title: “Women A-part: The Delectation of Women's Bodies in Early Modern Texts and Imagesâ€
I am seeking participants for a cross-disciplinary panel on the "delectation" of women's bodies in
text and image from the Renaissance through the early 19th century. The more diverse the
disciplines represented (anthropology, art history, the history of economics, legal history, literary
history, music history, philosophy, politics, poetics, etc.), the better! Please note that the proposed
panel will be a forum for short papers and exchange of ideas among panelists and audience, rather
than for the more conventional series of 20-minute conference talks.
Please send a 200-300-word abstract, c.v., and contact information via email to Susan Shifrin by
June 30, 2008, at sshifrin_at_ursinus.edu OR sshifrin_at_dejazzd.com.
