International Shakespeare Conference at Jadavpur University, Kolkata,
India, 18-20 December, 2008

The title of the International Shakespeare Conference being organized by
the Centre of Advanced Study, Department of English, Jadavpur University,
Kolkata 700032, India, in collaboration with the Shakespeare Association of
America, has been renamed "Staged Encounters: History, Society, Identity
and Shakespeare". This change has been made to facilitate inclusion of a
wider range of topics.

Intending participants who have already sent in their abstracts need not
resend them. As notified previously, abstracts (maximum of 500 words) are
invited for presentations in half-hour slots, affording 20 minutes
paper-reading time plus ten minutes for questions and discussion.

We regret that we cannot offer travel assistance, but will provide
hospitality over the days of the conference to a number of participants.
The support of the Shakespeare Association of America is gratefully
acknowledged.
