2008 Conference in San Antonio, Texas: November 6-8
The SCMLA Rhetoric panel invites proposals (abstracts or full papers) for
the 2008 conference to be held on November 6-8, 2008, in San Antonio,
Texas. In light of the theme of â€œBordersâ€ for the 2008 conference of the
South Central Modern Language Association, the rhetoric panel especially
seeks proposals for papers that address borderlands rhetoric and
alternative rhetorics. In addition, the Rhetoric panel also welcomes
proposals on any topic related to rhetoric, including but not limited to
political rhetoric, visual/spatial rhetoric, the rhetoric of disability,
feminist rhetoric, and new (electronic) media rhetoric.
Papers from graduate students are welcome.

Confirmation of receipt will be sent immediately. Notification of
acceptance or rejection will be sent no later than April 11, 2008.

Please note the following eligibility requirements:
â€¢ All participants must be SCMLA members by May 12, 2008, for
program listing and to ensure receipt of conference materials.
â€¢ Members of the Executive Committee may deliver papers.
â€¢ Regular section chairs may deliver a paper in sections other than
â€¢ Regular section secretaries and special session chairs may
deliver papers in their own session.
â€¢ No individual may deliver more than one paper at any SCMLA
â€¢ Papers may not be read in sessions when panelists do not attend
