Editing Aesthetics at Today's Small Presses & Journals
Presenters sought for a proposed panel on the conference theme of "gatekeeping" focused on editorial practices/ publishing. Specifically, this panel will work to illuminate the role of the editor at a small press or literary magazine with an eye towards explaining / problematizing that role in regards to matters of taste, exposure, community building & cannon loading.
Preference will be given to editors/editorial staff currently serving on journals - either online or print, university affiliated or independent - whose primary genre are creative ones, &/or those associated with small presses.
Presenters might consider a brief introduction to their journal/press, followed by an explanation of editorial policies/practices before expanding to include some discussion of issues overall. The hope is that this will develop into a roundtable forum, led by the participants and prompts from the audience.
Please send credentials (including a letter of introduction/cv) along with a brief presentation description (250 words) as a single MS Word attachment to Dr. Nate Pritts at prittsn_at_nsula.edu <mailto:prittsn_at_nsula.edu> . Please put "LSU EGSA" in the subject line.
Deadline: December 1st, 2006.
*In case you were wondering, the Mardi Gras conference takes place
