American Society for Environmental History 2009 Annual Meeting
"Paradise Lost, Found, and Constructed: Conceptualizing and Transforming
Landscapes through History" Tallahassee, Florida, February 25-March 1,
Seeking papers for an interdisciplinary panel on how artists, writers,
and scientists encounter and represent wild American landscapes in
transition. Papers may examine a particular work, or body of work, of a
specific individual encountering a specific landscape. Papers that
explore tensions among conflicting impulses - preserving, transforming,
managing the wilderness - are especially welcome. For further details
