co-sponsored by The Shaw Festival (www.shawfest.com/) and the
International Shaw Society (www.shawsociety.org).

PROPOSALS for papers (focused as much as possible on Saint Joan and
The Philanderer, the two Shaw plays that will be produced at the Shaw
Festival, although other topics are acceptable) should be sent to Dr.
Leonard Conolly, preferably as an attachment to an email
(lconolly_at_trentu.ca), or by mail to Professor Leonard Conolly,

applying for scholarships/travel grants as well should submit
additional information (see below).

The Shaw Festival and the International Shaw Society are offering up
to five scholarships/grants to young scholars (under 40) to attend
this Symposium and deliver papers. These scholarships/grants, to
begin with, will pay the registration fee of $215 (which includes one
A+ ticket to each of the two Shaw plays). In addition, the Shaw
Festival's Ronald Bryden Scholarships will provide free accommodation
during the three days of the Symposium. The ISS Travel Grants may
also help with transportation expenses (see application form on
website). Applicants for the scholarship/grant should send, all in
one document and in this order, a covering letter, an application
form, an abstract, and a current c.v. to the selection committee by
attachment to an email to Professor Leonard Conolly at
<mailto:lconolly_at_trentu.ca>lconolly_at_trentu.ca or by mail to Dr.
Conolly at the Department of English, Trent University, Peterborough,
Ontario, Canada K9J 7B8. Proposals for papers should go to the same
addresses and at the same time. Deadline is April 15, 2007.

ISS MEMBERSHIP: You need not be a member of the ISS to apply for this
grant/scholarship. Non-members who receive a scholarship/grant will
be given a free membership to the ISS for the balance of the year.

Details about registration and application forms for
scholarships/grants are available on the website at
