CALL FOR PAPERS:
ARTICLES-IN-PROGRESS WORKSHOP

MATC is pleased to offer a workshop at the 2008 conference in Kansas City
for scholars and practitioners working on articles in progress in the areas
of Theatre History, Performance, Pedagogy, Theory, and/or Practice. The
workshop will offer the opportunity to meet in a closed session with
journal editors who have read your work in advance and who will offer
suggestions for improvement or on strategies for submitting to academic
journals.

This year’s Articles-in-Progress Workshop facilitators will include past
and current editors from:

THEATRE TOPICS
THEATRE HISTORY STUDIES
JOURNAL OF DRAMATIC THEORY AND CRITICISM
BAYLOR JOURNAL OF THEATRE AND PERFORMANCE
TEXAS THEATRE JOURNAL
THEATRE JOURNAL

If you have an article you are preparing to submit for publication and
would like critical feedback and advice from theatre scholars and
professionals in the publishing field, please prepare an abstract of the
work in progress and email it as a Word attachment by OCTOBER 15, 2007 to:

Scott Magelssen
Bowling Green State University
magelss_at_bgsu.edu - or - scottmagelssen_at_hotmail.com

Please include your name, academic affiliation, and title (identifying
whether you are faculty, a student, or an independent scholar), with your
abstract.

Essays for this workshop will be selected on the basis of overall clarity
of the project and time limitations for the conference itself. Please look
to the submission guidelines for the journals listed above as you prepare
your proposal. Selected authors will be expected to submit full versions
of the essays by January 31, 2008.
