A Panel for the Annual Conference of the American Literature Association
Boston, May 21-24, 2009

“The Age of Forrest” - This proposed panel will consider the impact of star
Edwin Forrest (1806-1872) on theatrical, oratorical, and literary culture
from the 1820s through the early 1870s. Papers on his performance of
masculinity, relationship with playwrights, and role in a highly publicized
divorce trial are particularly welcome.
