Annual Conference
Pomona College in Claremont, California
7 and 8 November 2008

I am seeking proposals for papers on a panel titled "Travel Writing/Writing Travel" at the 2008
PAMLA Annual Conference. Papers on any sort of travel writing are welcome including travelogue,
road novel, maritime adventure, travel in poetry and travel in drama. Papers addressing generic
and theoretical issues concerning writing on travel, migration, pilgrimage or tourism will also
receive consideration.

Please send a paper title, a 500-word proposal, and a 50-word abstract to me by March 15,
2008 at jschwetm_at_d.umn.edu. Membership in PAMLA is not necessary to propose a paper, but
one must become a member by April 15th, 2008 to present at the conference. Conference
sessions are 90 minutes long, so each paper should be 15-20 minutes in length to leave time for
introductions and discussion.
