Fall 2008
Open Themed
(Submissions by July 15, 2008)

Spring 2009
Global Books, Global Thinking, Global Reading
(Submissions by November 15, 2008)
Looking outward into a world where changes occur at an accelerating rate
will be explored in this issue. Crossing borders is as much a metaphor as
it is a technological, social, and economic reality. How do we embrace
people’s cultures? What insights and perspectives do children’s books
reflect and how does sharing them help us reach out into the world? What
are ethical responsibilities in choosing and sharing books?

Fall 2009
Envisioning the Earth
(Submissions by June 15, 2009)
A sense of the environment and the natural world is part of the
exploration in this issue. People’s sense of place, their roles,
contributions, futures, homes, and their understanding of the world are
intertwined envisioning of the earth. What realities, delights, and
dilemmas about the environment do books and their authors give us? What
insights about people of the earth are revealed?
