CFP: Millennial Fictions (UK) (01/02/07 ; 07/07/07) Call for papers for a
one-day Interdisciplinary Conference hosted at University of Westminster,
London, England.

The UK Network for Modern Fiction Studies in partnership with the
University of Hull invites proposals for papers and panels for our
Interdisciplinary "Millennial Fictions" Conference.

Confirmed Keynote Speaker: Dr. Richard Brown, University of Leeds

Saturday 7th July 2007

‘Millennial Fictions’ will investigate narratives of Fin de Siecle in the long
20th and 21st Century. This interdisciplinary conference will aim to develop a
discussion of what is a period of rapidly changing social and cultural visions,
through a range of media such at literature and film. Furthermore, this
conference hopes to examine tropes of apocalypse and uncertainty, as well as
fictions considered to be an index of the contemporary moment.

Possible topics include but are not limited to:

We will be pursuing various publishing outputs related to the conference.

Send abstracts (no more than 250 words) for proposed 20 minute papers by
1st February 2007 to martyn.colebrook_at_english.hull.ac.uk. Please mark the
subject of your email "Millennial Fictions abstract". Alternatively, you
can post your abstracts to Martyn Colebrook, Department of English, University
of Hull, Cottingham Road, Hull, East Yorkshire, England HU6 7RX. Proposals for
comprised panels of three speakers are also welcome.
